Ryles Jazz Club
212 Hampshire Street
Cambridge, MA
617-876-9330
This wood-tabled, no-frills, neighborhood club claims to have “the best in live music,” and it just might. It swings every Tuesday through Sunday night with both local and bigger-name bands. Jazz dominates, but you also can move your hips with salsa and merengue dance lessons (offered on Thursday nights). Take in the jazz downstairs on Saturdays, and during the set breaks pop upstairs and make some moves of your own on the dance floor where Latin, swing, tango and everything else goes. The highlight of the week, many would argue, is the Sunday Jazz Brunch that lasts almost all day. The music is great and the food - including outrageous omelets accompanied by fresh strawberry.
