EFFECTIVE DISCIPLINE WORKSHOPS

March 2, 8 & 9 – Hanscom AFB, MA Parents and Caregivers can join the Airman & Family Readiness Center, Building 1218, for their upcoming series of Effective Discipline workshops, presented by Hanscom's Military and Family Life Consultant.

EFFECTIVE DISCIPLINE FOR YOUNG CHILDREN, AGES 2-5 - Tuesday, 2 March (1000 -1100) Learn how to think like a young child, why "stop" works better than"no," and which discipline options make the most sense for you and yourchild.

 

EFFECTIVE DISCIPLINE FOR CHILDREN, AGES 6-9 - Monday, 8 March (1000 - 1100) Establishing rules and limits for your children who are beginning to thinkfor themselves and seeking some independence.

 

EFFECTIVE DISCIPLINE FOR PRE-TEENS, AGES 10 - 12 - Tuesday, 9 March (1130 -1230) Setting guidelines for "tweens" as they begin their transition toadolescence.

THANKS TO YANKS FREE CHILDREN’S MAGIC SHOW

March 7th – Bellingham, MA Thanks to Yanks is pleased to announce another event that pays tribute to and honors the sacrifices that military families make on a daily basis. On March 7, 2010 a free family children’s magic show featuring Peter Vuono will take place at The Bellingham VFW Post 7272, 940 South Main Street.

 

All military and non-military families with children are welcome to attend this event at no charge. The doors open at 12:15 with free lunch provided by the Ladies Auxiliary at 12:30 p.m.

 

Tickets are free, but need to be reserved by e-mailing Mshain@charlesriverbank.com with the number of tickets you are requesting. You will receive an e-mail back, reserving your seats. The show starts at 1:15 p.m. and will end at approximately 2:00 p.m. Those who attend are invited to bring an item that can be used by a veteran in need. A list of needed items can be found online at www.massveterans.org by clicking on the ‘Donations’ link.

 

OPERATION PURPLE SUMMER CAMP

Registration on March 15 for Summer 2010 – Bethlehem, NH Copper Cannon Camp will host Operation Purple Camp for youths 8-16 years old during the first two weeks of August. Registration begins March 15th, and applications will only be accepted ONLINE. For more information, visit www.operationpurple.org. Each camp is "purple" and open to children of service members of any branch of Service, active duty, National Guard or Reserve, as well as children of members of the Commissioned Corps of the Public Health Service and National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration. Camps are free to all participants thanks to support from the Sierra Club and The Sierra Club Foundation.

 

RED SOX TICKET LOTTERY - March 16th – Newport, RI

For active personnel ONLY. The lottery is for the annual distribution of Red Sox tickets. Sign up for lottery at ITT starting on Monday, March 1 at 9:00am. Participants must be preregistered to participate in the lottery. One entry allowed per active duty ID.

 

Tickets are for weekend holiday games in Field Box section 22 for $130 each and Loge Box section 21 for $95 each. Lottery is for assignment of tickets only, tickets must be purchased at ITT by Thursday, April 1.

DISCOUNTED BRUINS TICKETS

March 25th & April 4th – Boston, MA Military members can receive discounted suite tickets for the 3/25 game vs. Tampa Bay and the /1 game vs. Florida. Both games start at 7pm. USS CONSTITUTION Model Shipwright Guild Exhibit

Jan 30 through March 30 - USS Constitution Museum, Boston, MA Members of the USS Constitution Model Shipwright Guild will display their finest work in hopes of capturing the spotlight during the 31st annual show at the USS Constitution Museum. Models in the Spotlight opens to the public on Saturday, January 30th and will run through Saturday, March 20th. Admission to the Museum and the exhibit are free with donations welcome. The Museum is open daily from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

WALT DISNEY MILITARY PROMOTION

Jan 3 thru July 31, 2010 – Orlando, FL The Shades of Green Resort, an Armed Forces Recreation Center, and Walt Disney World in Orlando, have teamed up to make a 4-Day vacation for service members and their families even more affordable. A 4-Day Military Promotional ticket will be on sale from Jan. 3, through July 31. Each active or retired member of the U.S. military may purchase up to six special 4-day promotional tickets for $99 each. “Park Hopper” and “Water Park Fun & More” options may also be added for a nominal fee.

 

The Military Promotional tickets are available through the Shades of Green Attraction Ticket Sales Office. The eligible military member must be present when the tickets are purchased and used. Additionally, the Shades of Green Resort is offering a 50% discount on meals and rooms for any Soldier on authorized R&R leave from the Balkans, Operation Iraqi and Enduring Freedom between Jan. 4 and Jan. 31, 2010.

 

The Shades of Green Resort is one of four Armed Forces Recreation Centers worldwide, operated by the Army’s Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation Command.
