The National Endowment for the Arts, and more than 700 museums in all 50 states formed to offer free admission to active duty military personnel and their families from Memorial Day, May 31, 2010, through Labor Day, September 6, 2010. If you are active duty military personnel and/or an immediate family member, all you need to do is show either a Geneva Conventions CAC Card, a DD Form 1173, or a DD Form 1173-1 at the museum admissions desk. Immediate family members under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an appropriate ID holder. STANDING ROOM - $10 RED SOX TICKETS – Boston, MA
Call up your best buddy who’s heading off to boot camp, or your son who’s back from Iraq, and tell him you’d love to spend some quality time together this summer at historic Fenway Park in Boston. Juice up the deal by offering to pay for a pair of Red Sox tickets. Just be sure your soldier/sailor/airman/marine brings an active duty military ID so the two of you can buy discounted tickets for $10 each.
At every regular season game, the Boston Red Sox set aside SRO (standing room only) tickets for active duty military personnel. The number of tickets varies, but it’s often around 200. Each serviceman or servicewoman can purchase a maximum of two tickets per game — one for them, one for you — at $10 each. Military SRO tickets go on sale two hours before game time. The ticket booth is at Gate B. Each person with an active duty military ID can buy two tickets.
FREE YOUTH SUMMER CAMP – July 11-16 and 25-30 – West Barnstable, MA
A free summer camp is being offered to all military youths by Operation Military Kids. The camp will be held at the Cape Cod Camp Lyndon YMCA for two five-day sessions:
July 11-16, and July 25-30 from 7:30am to 5:00pm each day. The camp is open to kids in grades K-12 (ages 5-18). Parents welcomed to drop their children off for the full day or a few hours. There will be supervised access to all spaces including swimming, computers, games, etc. Kids must be registered ahead of time. NEW SCHOLARSHIP FOR CHILDREN OF FALLEN MEMBERS – Submit application starting May 1st
The children of military personnel who died in the line of duty since Sept. 11, 2001 can apply for an educational scholarship similar to the new Post-9/11 GI Bill. Benefits are retroactive to Aug. 1, 2009. The scholarship, which is administered by the Department of Veterans Affairs, are named after Marine Gunnery Sergeant John David Fry, 28, a Texas native who died in Iraq in 2006 while disarming an explosive. He was survived by three young children.

WALT DISNEY MILITARY PROMOTION – Jan 3 thru July 31, 2010 – Orlando, FL
The Shades of Green Resort, an Armed Forces Recreation Center, and Walt Disney World in Orlando, have teamed up to make a 4-Day vacation for service members and their families even more affordable. A 4-Day Military Promotional ticket will be on sale from Jan. 3, through July 31. Each active or retired member of the U.S. military may purchase up to six special 4-day promotional tickets for $99 each. “Park Hopper” and “Water Park Fun & More” options may also be added for a nominal fee.
The Shades of Green Resort is one of four Armed Forces Recreation Centers worldwide, operated by the Army’s Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation Command. FREE & DISCOUNTED ADMISSION TO VERMONT MOZART FESTIVAL – Summer 2010 – Burlington, VT
Since 1974, the Vermont Mozart Festival has brought artists from around the world to perform classical music in beautiful indoor and outdoor settings. The festival hosts 19 concerts over three weeks of summer and is regarded by its attendees as one of their favorite rituals. During the 2010 season, running from July 18 - August 8, active duty service members are eligible to receive free admission. Their dependents may attend for a 50% discount. The offer is also extended to currently serving members of the Guard and Reserves.
